Hey there, I’m Marcus.
Good Search Only exists to help business owners make better SEO decisions without needing to become SEO experts first.
If you know you probably need SEO but have no interest in being confused, oversold, or taken for a ride, you’re in the right place.
I work in SEO. I just don’t subscribe to the usual bullshit.
Before I fell down the SEO rabbit hole, I worked in the adult education industry.
Education, not entertainment.
That 12-year stint really shaped how I think about learning. I’m a huge believer that anyone can understand anything if they take the time to learn the fundamentals.
These days I work in SEO, but I don’t have much patience for smoke, mirrors, overpromising, vague jargon, or any of the nonsense that too often comes with it.
My passion is advocacy for good search, good SEO, and helping people make better decisions without being bulldozed by confusion.
You’re not going to learn SEO in a day. But the fundamentals? That’s achievable.
Let’s be honest — you’re not about to become an SEO expert overnight.
But the fundamentals are different. They take far less time to learn than the full subject, and they can be incredibly useful when you need something like SEO but don’t have the faintest idea what the hell it actually is.
You’d only be scratching the surface of what can be a pretty technical set of skills, but as my old mate Mia Fileman likes to say:
“Learn enough to be dangerous.”
It’s a great line because it’s true. If you’ve got a handle on what SEO is, what it broadly does, and how it works, you’ve already solved a whole bunch of problems when it comes to paying someone to do it for you.
You don’t need to master SEO.
You need to understand enough.
Enough to ask better questions, spot bad advice, and make smarter decisions before you pay someone.

fundamentals
You need results. You don’t want to spend your life learning SEO.
It’s not easy
I really do get it. SEO is not simple, and for most business owners it’s not realistic to expect you to learn it properly while also running a business.
You still need to decide
At the same time, you don’t want to be taken for a ride. You’re happy to pay someone, but who? Who actually knows what they’re doing, and who’s just good at sounding convincing?
That’s where this comes in
Good Search Only is my attempt to help answer those questions — and plenty more — so you can make better decisions with more confidence and less risk.
No tricks. No gimmicks. No lead magnet fluff.
Real SEO knowledge is pretty simple.
It’s SEO advice coupled with a solid understanding of what your business actually needs. That’s it.
Not one of the bajillion “how to SEO” guides you can get your hands on in exchange for your email address. Not vague reports. Not empty recommendations. Not fake certainty.
What you need is to understand whether SEO matters for your business, what it should realistically do, and how to find someone who can do it well without wasting your time or money.
That’s the whole point of this site. I’ll do my best to help with all of the above.
